Absolutely delicious food and a great location!
I was a little worried when going here for the first time because I know its a vegetarian/vegan restaurant and I wasn't sure how much variety they would have. But to my pleasant surprise, they had a very full and delicious menu!
I got one of their flatbreads with tomato, mozzarella, and basil on it, and it was absolutely delightful! From my understand, their bread is made in-house, which made it even better! It was nicely toasted but still so soft. The best part was that it didn't get soggy with the slices of tomato sitting on it!
I also got a lemonade which, on a hot day like the day I went, was the most refreshing beverage I could have ordered!
Not to mention, Claire's is located right in the heart of downtown New Haven! So when it's nice, you can pick up food and walk right to the green to enjoy your food!
Definitely looking forward to going there again in the near future! -

I just want to co-sign/update Kedar's review of Claire's. 9 years later and they aren't much better. I came here with friends TWICE because I really wanted to give them a fair shot, so here we go:
Round 1: The first time I came I tried the desserts. The desserts are dry, but if you are jonesing for dessert I guess it will work. The Coffee Cake is nothing to write home about and it was so hyped I was immensely disappointed when I tried it. It is dry and the frosting is just sweet with no other flavor. Katalina's has better baked goods. But someone convinced me to give this place a second chance because the food was so much better.
Round 2: The second time I came I had a meal and chai. The quesadillas are just...abysmally bad. My friend and I both hated them (she got a regular cheese one, I got the California with vegan cheese), it had simultaneously a soggy texture/really greasy in the center and crispy on the ends. It was too thick and we barely finished it. It reminded me of struggle vegan meals I used to make when I just started out. We went from plotting veg*n outings post-exams in cab over to basically cancelling those plans after our meals. Chai was really good though and the only redeeming part of my meal.
I imagine that since it's an institution that I have heard for over a decade it has this nostalgia that colors the views of the people who eat here. I am (mostly) sad I paid for the food I bought here. Aside from you know, the food, the service is fine, it's relatively quick and it's clean. -

We had a really great experience here, despite it being packed with lunch-time diners.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ordered gluten free cheese pizzas. They were extremely cheesy and delicious. Also ordered a gluten free cheese quesadilla, which was very yummy. We had citrus fizzes and lemonades to drink- also tasty.
Overall, we will be back and would recommend. -

Lots of vegetarian and vegan options with giant serving sizes make this place a cozy stop after visiting Yale's campus. The menu is so extensive- it was truly hard to choose from so many appetizing and homey options. The place is also quirkily decorated- with lots of mismatch colored chairs that work together seamlessly.
My California quesadilla was fire. In fact, I even went up to the board afterwards to check the ingredients list because I couldn't believe it was just plain old mozzarella in the quesadilla, I was convinced there must be some super secret yummy ingredient. My boyfriends choice- the tostada- however was a miss. The beans and sauce made the tostada too soggy and the quantity of beans was just a little overkill. It tasted slightly bland.
We still found our dinner to be well priced and filling and in the whole really wonderful. I wish I had room for dessert because the slices of cake looked amazing. I'd be back to try some more. Overall, I'd say if you order right, Claire's is a decent, casual choice, but like many locations some items are hit or miss. -

For a vegetarian and vegan restaurant they have a lot of great options on the menu! There's a lot to choose from with healthy ingredients and I personally didn't try it but my friend who I was with said the smoothies are delicious!! Unfortunately I had a lot of cons with my experience which is why I gave it only 3 stars. I came on a Monday lunch and the place was jam packed making it difficult to find a table and even to navigate around with a baby stroller. The wait was long and the service was a little slow. I felt as if I was being rushed through the line. I ordered a falafel pita Sandwhich and they messed up my order bringing me a falafel salad instead. It was tasty so I just kept it without saying anything. The area is right near the New Haven green and is only street parking so I had a difficult time finding parking out front. But overall the food was fresh, healthy, tasted good and was a good portion for the price.
